VOLUNTEERS are being sought for a food festival in Caernarfon, the largest of its kind to be held in North Wales.
Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon is held on May 13 and will dominate most of the town centre.
It is estimated that 50,000 turned out for Caernarfon’s food festival last year, and in 2023 the event is expected to be as big.
But as this year’s date looms closer, organisers are calling on people to volunteer two hours of their time on the festival day itself.

Gŵyl Fwyd Caernarfon has been held annually since 2016, and organisers are made up of volunteers who meet regularly throughout the year to put arrangements in place.
The date for this year’s festival has been set, and the festival’s committee are now looking for volunteers to help out on the day.
A spokesperson on behalf of the festival said: “We as organisers are extremely proud of last year’s success, especially as it was the first time the festival was held post-COVID.
“We’re proud that we still adhere to our founding principles, to reflect Caernarfon’s unique character and culture, to celebrate local food, and to provide entertainment for the people of Caernarfon and beyond.
“But the reality is, holding the festival would be impossible were it not for our strong army of volunteers who give some time each year.
“We don’t ask too much of our volunteers. They are usually allocated a spot to staff, and are asked to guide visitors, hand out programmes, and, most importantly maybe, to collect donations.

“All volunteers are given proper directions and guidance, and volunteering slots don’t last more than two hours.
“Our volunteers often have a lot of fun as there is always a buzzing atmosphere, and all visitors are friendly and conscious that the festival is held by people who volunteer their time generously.
“We urge local residents who are interested in volunteering to contact us for more information on post@gwylfwydcaernarfon.cymru.”
