A PUB and restaurant in North Wales is under new ownership and marked Valentine’s Day with a special one-off menu.

“The Valentine”, on Mill Street, Llanddulas was taken over on November 29, 2022 by mother-and-son duo Lindsay While and Jamie Smith, who previously owned the Bull Hotel on Chapel Street, Abergele.

A large-scale revamp is already planned for later this year, with a one-day-only menu used on February 14.

Dishes included oysters, prawn cocktail, courgette and leeks, Bavette steak, Winter pavlova, a selection of cheeses, and more.

Jamie said: “My mum and I have always had pubs in Abergele. After COVID, I decided to leave the The Bull, and saw this place up for lease, came to have a look, and fell in love with it.

“I’d been there years and years ago, but it’s changed a lot since I’d last been.

“There’s a new menu, and we’re going to be putting a new seating area out in the back, and we’re going to be changing the kitchen. Basically, we’re going to have a revamp in the summer.

“Business has been brilliant so far; much better than I thought. I thought we’d change things up and do something a bit different, so we put Asian, Australian and Welsh dishes on the menu, which have been fantastic.

“My mum’s home-made lasagne and chicken parmigiana are quite popular, as well.”

The Valentine’s new regular menu launched on New Year’s Day and features such dishes as a meat and cheese board, Shepherd’s pie, a house Pakora burger, spiced wedges, and a steak sandwich.
