A CHARITY which provides motivational singing sessions is reaching out to vulnerable young people in Bangor and Caernarfon, thanks to community grant funding from Tesco.
The BIG Sing SOUL project, run by the Imagine the Day charity, has been awarded two Tesco community grants worth £1,500 and £500 to support its work to boost the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable people across Bangor and Caernarfon.
The money allowed the charity to provide online resources for their inspirational and motivational singing workshops for teachers and staff in schools, pre-schools and care homes across North Wales to access for free.
Emma Smith of Big Sing SOUL said the grant was allowing them to take the project into new parts of North Wales.

“We've had high demand throughout Wales, and we want all children across Bangor and Caernarfon to benefit from this opportunity,” she said.
“Music doesn’t just make you happier, relieve stress and anxiety, research has shown that it can also increase memory and coordination skills.
“Music allows children to develop their creativity and self-expression, motivating them to believe they can do anything if they try.
“Many schools and nurseries lack the resources, knowledge and funds to deliver these type of music sessions.”
Tesco Community Grants, the in-store scheme where customers vote with blue tokens for community projects and groups, has been helping community groups and charities across Wales and the wider UK since 2016.
Claire de Silva, head of community at Tesco, said: “At Tesco we want to reward groups and initiatives such as the Big Sing SOUL Project that make such a difference to young and vulnerable people in their local communities.”
