Aberconwy MS launches petition to help save Gwynedd-Conwy bus service
Despite more than 700 signing the a petition to save Llew Jones’ T19 service between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog, and Mrs Finch-Saunders sending several letters to both counties’ councils outlining different solutions, the last bus ran on February 11.
Speaking today (February 14) in the Senedd, she said: “In the Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru Co-operation agreement, Labour made a clear promise that they would ask Transport for Wales to work with local authorities in North West Wales and the Welsh Government to develop plans for an integrated transport system.
“Rather than see progress, and despite Gwynedd Council claiming to have a close working relationship Welsh Government officials and Transport for Wales in relation to public transport, Conwy, Gwynedd, and Welsh Government have completely failed to deliver for our communities.
“So severe is the situation that some students are now having to rely on private transport to get from the Blaenau Ffestiniog area to school and college in Conwy, and there are employees that cannot get to work.
“The Welsh Government must urgently work with Gwynedd and Conwy to address the serious problems caused by the termination of the T19, such as by extending the area served by the area covered by the Fflecsi bus.”
