A MAN from Gwynedd has become one of the first in Wales to be jailed for non-fatal strangulation following a change in legislation.
Steven Peter Blake, 26, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and given a five-year restraining order against his victim.
Blake was convicted of non-fatal strangulation, one of the first in Wales following the legislation of non-fatal strangulation which has been in force since June 2022.
He was sentenced on January 6.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson said: “We are fully committed to stamping out violence against women and children.
“The effective use of the new legislation will hopefully send a positive message to victims of crime and domestic abuse.
"This sends a clear a message to perpetrators that it is not acceptable, and we will pursue those who continue to commit such heinous acts.”
