NORTH Wales Police arrested 41 people for drug-driving and drink-driving offences in the first week of a campaign aimed at tackling the problems.

The Anti Drink and Drug Drive Campaign is a crackdown on drug and drink related offences on the road, with four of the 41 offences in Gwynedd and 6 on Anglesey.

Police said patrols and checks will continue 24/7, and that these drivers were 'risking lives' with their behaviour.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "During the first week of our Anti Drink and Drug Drive Campaign, across the region we've made 27 drug drive arrests and 14 drink drive arrests.
