AN AUTHOR from Gwynedd said the inspiration for her latest novel came to her while watching “The X Files” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Siân Llywelyn, who grew up in Penrhyndeudraeth, has written “Darogan”, following a secret agency that investigates unexplained and supernatural events based at an unknown location in Dolgellau.
Siân published her first novel, “Drychwll”, in 2020.

She studied for a joint honours degree in Welsh and music, and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in creative writing.
Following 15 years as a Welsh teacher at Ysgol Ardudwy, Harlech and Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin, Siân is now following a doctoral course in creative writing at the Department of Welsh, Bangor University.
In “Darogan”, Beca and Taran work together to try to solve several mysteries, but are drawn back to Wales' complicated past, and discover that threats don’t always come from the outside.
Siân said: “Welsh history was an important inspiration.
“Our history is what shaped today’s Wales, and there are plenty of stories to choose from.
“I also enjoy supernatural elements in stories, so once again, as in my first novel, Drychwll, I decided to combine both elements.
“Whilst watching The X Files during the COVID lockdowns, I was struck by an idea, and just like that I started writing!”
Darogan is available at your nearest bookstore, and on Gwasg Carreg Gwalch’s website.
