THE GWYNEDD birthplace of Lawrence of Arabia has gone on the market.
Snowdon Lodge/Ty Lawrence, a Grade II-listed property in Tremadog, has gone on the market with estate agent Fleurets.
T.E. Lawrence was born at the property when it was known as Gorphwysfa, to Anglo-Irish father Thomas Chapman and Sarah Junner, after Thomas had left his previous wife and family.
The family lived at the property for around 18 months before moving to the Galloway region of Scotland and then to Brittany and Jersey.
Lawrence is most famous for being a leader in the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, acting as a British liaison to Arab forces and taking part in battles including the Battle of Aqaba and the Fall of Damascus.

His exploits were detailed in the 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia, partly based on his own vivid memoirs, in which he was portrayed by Peter O’Toole.
The asking price for the property has not been disclosed, but had previously been on the market for £900,000 back in 2008.
The property is described as having “enormous potential”, with 14 rentable rooms, a teaching room, lounge, games room, dining rooms and a catering kitchen, having undergone extensive refurbishment works in recent years.
Snowdon Lodge lends itself to various usages, with holiday letting, health care and hotel potential.
