A HISTORY-making lifeboat crew launched from Moelfre lifeboat station.

At 4:45pm on Friday, lifeboat station volunteers launched the D-Class inshore lifeboat (ILB) ‘Enfys 2’ after being called by H.M.Coastguard to reports of a dinghy with persons onboard was drifting offshore in Benllech Bay.

Once on scene, the lifeboat crew searched the bay and found what turned out to be an inflatable unicorn.

The Coastguard teams on the beach located the beach toy owners and confirmed that all persons were accounted for.

The inflatable was returned to the owners and safety advice was given.

On the way back to the boathouse, the crew made a sweep of the area, giving safety advice to an inflatable kayaker and numerous paddleboarders.

The crew had the distinction of being the first all-female crew to respond to a shout from the station.
