COMEDIAN and mental health campaigner Ruby Wax has received an honorary degree from Bangor University.

The American-British actress, comedian, writer, television personality and mental health campaigner Ruby Wax received a Doctor of Literature (DLit) for distinguished public service.

She was among 17 individuals to receive Honorary degrees who are joined graduating students for a triple-year triple-week celebration which comes to an end today (July 14).

The ceremonies take place at Bangor University's hilltop Prichard Jones Hall, which dates back to 1911 and stored more than 500 evacuated paintings, including works by Botticelli, Rubens and Rembrandt, during the Second World War.
