A new solo exhibition by Pembrokeshire artist Jill Jones will feature at Life: Full Colour in Caernarfon from this week.
‘Blooming’ is a celebration of the colours of flowers, and is awash with dazzling yellows, bright pinks, sky blues, and glorious reds, with the exhibition predominantly features impressionist landscapes alongside a series of abstract paintings, all of which are in acrylic.
In this collection, Ms Jones has beautifully captured native daffodils, Welsh poppies, cornflowers, water lilies, snowdrops and wildflowers, as well as much loved flowers like chrysanthemums and roses.
“We have the most amazing array of wildflowers and hedge flowers in April and May,” said Jill.
“There is no end of inspiration in Pembrokeshire – we’re lucky to live in such a stunning location with breath-taking views.”
The exhibition will evoke special memories for everyone, whether it’s the favourite flower of a loved one, time spent as a child exploring meadows and woodlands, or going for walks along the awe-inspiring coastal paths of North Wales.
Life: Full Colour founder and curator, Sara McKee, said: “When you look at Jill’s paintings, I’d like you to think about the language of painting that reaches back over 500 years to the time of Jan van Eyck.
“At the time, artists expressed spiritual themes in terms of realistic presentation, so you see detailed room sets, flowers and animals as they would have appeared to the viewer of the day.
“That’s what Jill skilfully delivers with her realistic paintings of Welsh flowers, which also instil feelings of spirituality and hit all of our senses – breathe in and enjoy.”
‘Blooming’ opens at Life: Full Colour on July 8 and closes on August 6.
Life: Full Colour is located at 23-25 Hole on Wall Street, Caernarfon, and is open every Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm.
