THE Sopna Tandoori Indian restaurant in Caernarfon has scooped the award for Best Asian Restaurant in Wales, in a gala held for this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards.
The restaurant, which was previously named Best Asian Restaurant of the Year at the 2018 Asian Curry Awards, was recognised at the function at Hilton Manchester Piccadilly on June 27.
Addressing an audience of more than 500 of the country’s leading Asian restaurant owners, chefs and local dignitaries, awards organiser, Yawar Khan, Chairman of the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), said the industry needed to “Adapt and embrace change, or risk becoming just become another statistic, amid widespread restaurant closures, against ever-rising rising costs, with no Government plan to help alleviate the pain being felt through the hospitality sector.”
Sopna Tandoori, located in the Caernarfon countryside just eight miles from the popular town of Llanberis, offers a range of Indian cuisine from the spicy, aromatic notes of Sher-E-Bangla to the sumptuous Lamb Jaflong and the rich Sopna Special Biryani.
The restaurant has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor, and has been noted for its food, service and ambience.
As an award-winner, the Gwynedd restaurant will be included in the ACF’s new ‘One Hundred Top Curry Restaurants’ guide, which is currently being published at www.Top100curryRestaurants.co.uk.
