A MAN from Holyhead has received a restraining order and is to pay more than £500 after he was found guilty of committing a racially aggravated assault.
Robert Holmes, 39, of Rhosneigr, was accused of assaulting Ashfaq Ghani in Holyhead on July 7, 2021, in what was a racially aggravated offence.
Mr Holmes pleaded not guilty on March 10, but a guilty verdict was proved in absence on June 1.

At Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on June 14, he was ordered not to contact Mr Ghani by any means, or enter both the Lifestyle Express and Bargains Galore stores in Holyhead, until December 13, 2023.
He is also to undergo three months’ non-residential alcohol treatment.
He was also fined £180, an uplift from £60 due to the offence being racially aggravated.
Mr Holmes must also pay £200 in compensation, £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £95 victim surcharge.
This amounted to a total of £560, to be paid as a lump sum within 28 days.
An application was also made by the court for deductions from Mr Holmes’ benefits.
