FOUR residents of the Preserved County of Gwynedd have been presented with the British Empire Medal (BEM) at a ceremony at Caernarfon Castle.
The Lord-Lieutenant of the Preserved County of Gwynedd, Edmund S. Bailey, recognised the community-level achievements of the foursome.
Dr Stephen MacVicar of Beaumaris received the BEM for voluntary services to vulnerable people in Wales, while another medal was awarded to Anne Thomas of Bala for services to nursing.
Joan Scott, an Asda community champion from Nefyn, was awarded the BEM for services to the community in Pwllheli, while a fourth BEM was awarded to Maureen Flora Davies of Treaddur Bay for voluntary and public service in Anglesey.
The BEM a British and Commonwealth award for meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown.
