WITH hope of fine weather over the half-term holiday and summer months, Gwynedd Council is urging residents and visitors to take care if they’re planning on going to enjoy the beach.
Many of Gwynedd's beaches will be clearly signposted and the most popular beach areas will be overseen by Council wardens.
Joining Council staff will be a group of marine creatures who are helping the Maritime Service to highlight the best way to enjoy the beach safely.
Last year was the first year that Dewi the Dolphin, Seren the Starfish and Olwen the Octopus joined the team and visited some of Gwynedd's main beaches throughout the summer.

A mischievous new character will be joining the crew over the coming weeks and more of their story will be heard soon.
Barry Davies, Gwynedd Council's Maritime Service Manager, said: "Our beaches are visited by large numbers of people every year, and at the beginning of the season we once again want to remind everyone planning to go to the seaside to plan ahead and check the weather forecast, the tides and to treat the sea and coast with respect.
"Many beaches have clear warning signs in place and our staff will oversee the most popular areas to advise members of the public of the dangers, but with nearly 180 miles of coastline, our beach wardens cannot be everywhere at once.
"As part of the effort to encourage everyone who visits Gwynedd's beaches to exercise caution before venturing into the water, last year we introduced a trio of characters to share safety messages.
“There will be many children going to the beach as the weather warms up, and of course children from other areas come to Gwynedd on holiday and visit our beaches.
“We want them all to enjoy what our beautiful beaches have to offer but it is also vitally important that they stay safe and go home safely at the end of the day.
"The beach characters Seren, Dewi and Olwen will be accompanying the Council's beach staff talking to children and teaching them how to keep safe.
“If children and parents see the trio whilst they’re out and about, don't be shy, please come along and say 'hello' and take a selfie.
"So enjoy, but be careful, consider those around you and don't put yourself and others in danger."
