FOR the second year running, St David’s Hospice is organising a walking challenge on the Isle of Anglesey.
Following the success of last year’s event, this year, the challenge will discover the eastern side of island, from Rhosneigr to Holyhead Breakwater Park.
The event takes place on Saturday, July 9 and follows a 30km (18.7miles) route along the coastal path.
You can enjoy the splendour of the area’s diverse landscape which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The walk will be led by qualified trek leaders from Aim Higher who will provide support, assistance and ensure safety at all times.
Catrin Vaughan Roberts, from Bontnewydd, took part last year and said: “As a group of seven friends, we wanted a challenge whilst also raising money for a good cause.
“We all knew of someone who has benefited from this valuable service, and we also acknowledge that in order to run an excellent service, that you require money.
“The walk was very challenging which made it more of an achievement, but we also realised that hospice patients go through more of a challenge than us.
“We were very grateful for the support and were happy to have raised over £1,800 for the hospice.
“If you are looking for a challenge that will make a difference, then please sign up for this year’s coastal walk.”
Organiser and St David’s Hospice Gwynedd and Anglesey area fundraiser, Keri McKie, added: “Last year’s Anglesey Coastal Trek was an overwhelming success; even with the constant changing COVID rules, we managed to adapt and get on.
“Taking place over three separate dates, we were greeted with wind, rain and sunshine, but most importantly spectacular views on every occasion.
“Last year’s event raised over £10,000 for local hospice care.”
Entry is £25 per person, with a £100 minimum sponsorship.
All funds raised will go towards the St David’s Hospice four-bed inpatient unit based within Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley, Holyhead, which provides respite and end of life care for people of Anglesey, with life-limiting illnesses, as well as providing support for many of their loved ones.
