DRIVERS in Gwynedd now have to pay an extra 10% to use Caernarfon car parks.
Most towns in Gwynedd were already signed up to the scheme, which is backed by the county council.
The scheme, which has been in place since 2015, sees a 10% car parking charge added to car park fees.
The money is then reinvested in community projects such as public toilets. But Caernarfon is one of the last towns in Gwynedd to sign up.
But the town council has now joined the scheme, meaning drivers using the town’s car parks will now have to pay an extra 10% (since 1 April 2022).
The extra 10% charge has been added to sites like the Ffordd a Felin and Galeri car parks.
Here’s a list of Caernarfon car parks where you will pay an extra 10%:
- Penllyn, Caernarfon
- Glan Môr Uchaf, Caernarfon
- Tan y Bont, Caernarfon
- Ffordd y Felin, Caernarfon
- Doc Fictoria, Y Galeri, Caernarfon
- Doc Fictoria Multi story, Caernarfon
- Balaclafa, Caernarfon
- Safle Shell, Caernarfon
- Canolfan Cyfiawnder Troseddol, Caernarfon
- Penllyn, Caernarfon
A Gwynedd County Council spokeswoman said: “There has been a 10% increase due to Caernarfon Town Council joining a scheme which most areas in Gwynedd are a part of where the extra 10% will be invested and spent in the town.”
