A GP surgery in Gwynedd has announced it is only dealing with “urgent medical queries” after a Covid outbreak among staff members.
Caerffynnon Surgery in Dolgellau has had to cut the range of services it provides due to the shortages, in which six members of staff tested positive.
The surgery, which treats patients across Gwynedd, particularly in Dolgellau, Bontddu and Llanelltyd, posted a statement to their Facebook page which read: “Unfortunately due to 6 staff members testing positive for COVID we are asking our patients to contact the Practice with URGENT medical queries only.
“Please only contact the Practice if your problem is URGENT and cannot be dealt with via our online e-consult service or at the local pharmacy.
"The Practice will endeavour to go ahead with all planned appointments so please still attend unless you are contacted.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience in what will be a challenging week for the Practice."
It is not yet clear when services at the Dolgellau surgery will return to normal, with disruption expected until at least the end of the week.
News of the outbreak comes as Gwynedd was revealed as the county with the sharpest rise in Covid cases in North Wales on Monday, 4 April.
The latest figures from Public Health Wales revealed 58 positive test results were recorded in Gwynedd, with the weekend figures the highest in the region.
