AN ANGLESEY jewellery shop has had two reasons to celebrate this week after winning a national business award and raising £650 to help those in Ukraine.

“Jaspersparkle”, known primarily for making rings out of silver spoons, won the best arts and creative business prize at the Best of Welsh Business Awards 2022, which was held at the Coal Exchange Hotel in Cardiff on March 27.

Anne Arkle, who has run Jaspersparkle since it launched at the Anglesey Show in 2011, said: “We made the finals as a result of our fabulous customers voting for us.

“We are absolutely elated; we are so proud to win such an award, and to bring it home to our Isle of Anglesey is the best feeling.”

You can watch the moment Anne received the award below:

Then, yesterday (March 31) rounded off a month of pledging £5 from each of their sales to the British Red Cross’ Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, with £650 raised in total.

A competition, where those who paid a £5 entry fee had the chance to win a Blue Agate silver spoon ring worth £100, was also held, with the winner announced live on Facebook last night.

Anne added: “We sold 80 tickets, which was amazing, so this money, added to the £5 we were donating from each sale we received during the month of March, made a grand total of £650!

“We are thrilled– we know that this money will help the people of Ukraine, and we thank all our wonderful customers for buying the raffle tickets.

“The draw took place ‘live’ on our Facebook page – (husband) Ray donned an eye mask, then drew the winning ticket from the bowl, and the winner was Clare Wright of Bolton.

“Celebrations followed, which consisted of Ray being pelted with blue and yellow balloons, and doused in confetti and silly string!

“(It is) quite rare to find these silver spoons, with semi-precious gemstone on the handle of the spoon.”
