ANTUR Waunfawr, a social enterprise in Caernarfon, has celebrated St David’s Day by performing “Hen Wlad fy Nhadau” in Makaton.
Antur Waunfawr was established by R. Gwynn Davies in 1984, and provides employment and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities in their own community.
To celebrate the patron saint of Wales, members of Antur Waunfawr have performed Wales’ national anthem in Makaton.
Makaton has been described as a form of communication that uses a combination of signs, speech and symbols.
Makaton is used by individuals who have learning difficulties, various cognitive impairments, autism, Down's Syndrome, language difficulties, sensory impairments and other neurological disorders that impact individuals’ ability to communicate.
Antur Waunfawr recently celebrated 102 years since the birth of R. Gwynn Davies, a disability rights pioneer who established Antur Waunfawr.
