BANGOR University’s Menai Science Park have announced plans to support innovation across North Wales with sites located in Colwyn Bay and Caernarfon.
Having long championed innovation across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey, Colwyn Bay will continue to host an On Tour location at 31 Ffordd Conwy, having proven popular over the last five months and engaging with more than 350 members of the community.
In 2019 and early 2020 M-SParc went on tour in Bethesda and Botwnnog, engaging with almost 700 people in four months in a project to promote, stimulate and support businesses in the Technology and Science sector to grow in the region.
The brand-new venture in Caernarfon will be based at 18 Stryd Y Plas.
Menai Science Park Managing Director, Pryderi ap Rhisiart, said: “It is an exciting milestone for M-SParc to be heading back out on the road after a very successful autumn in Colwyn Bay, where we’ll be staying for another four months, and we’re very much looking forward to launching the newest On Tour location in Caernarfon this week as well.
“We’ve long since proven that M-SParc is far more than just a building of bricks and mortar and that we’re here to stimulate and support the science and technology sector across Wales.
“What’s so exciting about launching our latest On Tour location in Caernarfon, is that we’re engaging with even more communities and supporting them to be creative, to collaborate and to launch or develop their businesses, whilst continuing to build on the great work that has already been done in Colwyn Bay.”
The On Tour locations are home to all the activities which take place in the flagship building on Anglesey, including a Ffiws Maker Space, hot desks, co-working space, business, design, technology and innovation workshops, as well as science and technology sessions for young people.
The Ffiws Maker Space is the latest in a series of ‘Ffiws’ spaces available across the region, developed for public use to prototype and brand your business in a creative way.
The co-working space is perfect for those wanting to work in a community area with company, and the many workshops which will be available are open to anyone and will cover a range of engaging topics.
Menai Science Park’s Digital Project Officer and Ffiws Tour Manager, Ben Roberts, added: “M-SParc takes great pride in providing a range of opportunities for local communities and business in towns across the region, diving right in to create a buzzing venue full of opportunities for individuals and businesses from all walks of life.
“We’re only around for a few months, so make sure you come and find us in Caernarfon and Colwyn Bay to take advantage of the excellent opportunities available.
“We’re also keen to provide opportunities for small businesses to ‘Test Trade’, running their business at the front of our venues, located at the heart of busy high streets.”
