THE BANGOR Chinese School (BCS) celebrated the start of the Year of the Tiger with an online event held on Sunday, 6 February.
Since its establishment in 2019, the Chinese School has grown rapidly and now boasts more than ten staff members and 80 students.
The Year of the Tiger embodies bravery, courage and strength, with this year’s Water Tiger thought to bring a confident and authoritative energy to all.
The online party, which involved a ceremony by pupils and teachers, was joined by Bangor City Councillor John Wynn Jones, who said: “It was really wonderful, they were able to show their talents, I got a really good feel for the culture and the people.
“I think it’s essential that we all learn to live with each other – I want them to feel a part of the community here in Bangor.”
Bangor Chinese School headteacher Kun Jiao said: “Year of the Tiger is supposed to be a lucky year – we hope it can wipe the global pandemic away and bring everyone living in North Wales best wishes and light in the future.
“Happy Chinese New Year.”
