ABOUT US, a creativity project active throughout the UK, has visited schools in Carenarfon this week as part of a competition being held to select art pieces for a public exhibition event.
The initiative is a collaboration between 59 Productions, an award-winning design studio and production company who created the video design for the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony; The Poetry Society, with expertise in young people’s poetry education; and Stemettes, an award-winning social enterprise working to bring young women and non-binary young people into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers.
Virtual workshops took place this week at three Caernarfon primary schools – Ysgol Rhostryfan, Ysgol yr Hendre and Ysgol Llandwrog – while a physical workshop was held at Ysgol Maesincla with Stemettes founder Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE in attendance.
The About Us competition invites young people aged four to 18 to enter a poem or animation Scratch project based on a theme of ‘connectivity and the universe’, where they aim to reflect on how life across the universe is interwoven.
A multi-disciplinary panel of experts will choose selected entries to the competition to feature within free live shows in Paisley, Derry-Londonderry, Caernarfon, Luton and Hull from March to May 2022.
