A North Wales GP practice has been forced to stay shut this week due to staff sickness.

Longford House Surgery, on Anglesey, is one of two GP practices within the Hwb Iechyd Cybi, along with Cambria Surgery.

Longford House was also closed last week as a result of illness among staff members.

It is not yet known when the practice will re-open.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said in a Facebook post: “Due to staff sickness, Longford Surgery in Holyhead will remain closed this week and only urgent appointments will be offered at Cambria Surgery during this time.

“Due to reduced reception staff, you are likely to wait longer on our phone lines to make an appointment.

“We would encourage patients to use our eConsult service that can be accessed via the Hwb Iechyd Cybi website: www.en.hwbiechyd.co.uk/hwb-iechyd-cyb.

“Prescriptions can also be made through emailing Prescriptions.w94026@wales.nhs.uk. Please do not attend the surgery unless you are asked to by one of our clinicians.

“You can also seek medical advice from your local pharmacy, and our Minor Injuries Unit at Penrhos Stanley Hospital is open 8am – 8pm, seven days a week.

“Please visit our website for further advice: www.bcuhb.nhs.wales/services/where-do-i-go.

“We are regularly reviewing the situation at Longford Surgery and with staff now returning to work following a period of sickness, we hope our services will be return to normal as soon as possible.”

BCUHB took over the running of Longford House Surgery in September 2019.
