A North Wales GP practice has been forced to temporarily shut due to staff sickness.
Longford House Surgery, on Anglesey, is one of two GP practices within the Hwb Iechyd Cybi, but will remain shut this week as a result.
It is not yet known when the practice will re-open.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said in a Facebook post: “Due to urgent staff sickness, Longford Surgery in Holyhead will remain closed this week, but urgent appointments will be offered at Cambria Surgery during this time.
“Patients who wish to book an appointment through our phone lines may need to wait longer due to reduced reception staff.
“We would encourage patients to use our eConsult service that can be accessed via the Hwb Iechyd Cybi website.
“Prescriptions can also be made through emailing Prescriptions.w94026@wales.nhs.uk. Please do not attend the surgery unless you are asked to by one of our clinicians.
“You can also seek medical advice from your local pharmacy and our Minor Injuries Unit at Penrhos Stanley Hospital is open 8am – 8pm seven days a week.
“Please visit our website for further advice: www.bcuhb.nhs.wales/services/where-do-i-go.
“We would like to apologise to our patients for the inconvenience this may cause them, and we are working hard to ensure our services will be back to normal as soon as possible.”
BCUHB took over the running of Longford House Surgery in September 2019.
Rhun ap Iorwerth, MS for Ynys Môn, said: "I understand that, due to staff sickness, Longford Surgery will be closed this week, with urgent appointments being offered at Cambria Surgery.
"It's a real worry that services are so fragile, and I'm afraid that we'll see more of this as the latest expected COVID wave hits.
"Long-term, it reminds us again of the need for Government and the Health Board to make services more resilient.
"Short-term, it means patients suffer, and it means yet more pressure on staff, and I would ask people to be patient with them and understanding of their situation.
"We've seen now what years of underinvestment in healthcare in Holyhead leads to, and I continue to press for a fresh start and for the services patients and healthcare staff deserve."
