A PIANO teacher from Menai Bridge is set to host her first public Christmas concert after revealing her battle with anxiety in a best-selling book celebrating female entrepreneurs.
Jen Griffiths, 35, was one of only 15 women nationwide to be featured in ‘Seen’, which topped the Amazon UK charts in six different categories on the strength of pre-orders alone.
The book collaboration was pioneered by North Wales-based ‘Visibility Queen’ Katherine Massey, with all proceeds going to Milestone Mums – a peer support group for mothers with mental health problems who have children aged up to two.
Jen, who started her business as a piano tutor in 2016, said: “‘Seen’ gave me a safe and inclusive platform to tell the story of how I stepped into my passion, purpose and power.
“I opened up about my experience of being a pianist who was scared of people because I wanted to show others that it doesn’t always have to be that way.
“The feedback has been amazing, and I am so happy that I was given the opportunity to share how I overcame a severe anxiety disorder to be who I am today.”
Jen’s live concert will take place on Sunday, December 19 at 2pm in a pop-up Facebook group. Replays will be available until Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Jen added: “I held a private Christmas concert online during lockdown, which was a success, but very few people understood I was battling with severe nerves through every song.
“Now I have told my story in Seen, I hope that choosing to open up this year’s concert to the general public will inspire others to push through their own fears.
“The best way to do that is to find your tribe – a supportive community to lift you up; and then to focus on doing what you love, as well as creating enjoyable experiences for other people.”
Concertgoers can request songs in addition to the full programme of Christmas favourites that Jen plans to perform.
