A Shropshire man has today been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to 11 offences of sexual assault against boys under 14 and 16 dating back as far back as the 1960s, whilst he was a member of staff at a Naval College in Anglesey.
90 year old Robert Talbot Youngman from Sheet Road in Ludlow was jailed at Mold Crown Court earlier today.
Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Constable Dan Smith of the North Wales Police Amethyst Team said, "This has been a challenging investigation which spanned a period of time from the 1960s through to the 1980s. It required close cooperation with the CPS, and protracted enquiries both in the UK and abroad. Our enquiries led us across several English counties and as far away as Australia.
"As an investigator of serious sexual offences it is satisfying to see this case come to the conclusion it has in court. My thoughts as always are with the victims who supported this investigation throughout.
"This investigation demonstrates that we will not let time or geography be a barrier to discovering the truth, or obtaining justice.
Amethyst is a team dedicated to the investigation of serious sexual offences in North Wales.
