Anglesey residents were treated to a stunning display from the Red Arrows on Thursday afternoon.

The Royal Air Force (RAF) aerobatics display team flew over the island with their Typhoon Display Team before and after visiting RAF Valley as part of their annual private Families Day celebration yesterday.

Having flown from a similar event at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire earlier in the afternoon, the Red Arrows flew back over Anglesey shortly after 7pm, flying over the A55.

On their way in, the Red Arrows flew over Point Lynas and Llaneilian, before move directly over Twrcelyn and Parys Mountain, crossing the B5111 and onto the Llyn Alaw reservoir, flying over Llanfihangel yn Nhowyn, before landing at RAF Valley.

A post on RAF Valley’s Facebook page on Thursday evening read: “RAF Valley Friends and Families Day 2021, what can we say! What a day!

“Thank you to all of those who battled the strong winds and sunshine to take part in one of RAF Valley’s biggest displays in recent years.

“But most of all thank you to the staff, vendors and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this day so successful.”

Many people who saw the Red Arrows in action also shared their thoughts, with comments such as: “Thank you, we had a lovely day. The displays were just jaw-dropping, absolutely amazing. And a big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen.”

Another commented saying: “Huge thank you for the entertainment from the dunes. What an incredible display. Kids inspired beyond belief, grandpa grinning ear to ear, our minds blown. Wow. Just wow.”
