Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie took the opportunity to wish the Wales football team good luck during a Parliamentary questions on Freeports for Wales.

Speaking in the House of Commons earlier this week Mrs Crosbie asked: “Does the Leader of the House agree that Wales desperately needs a freeport to boost jobs and investment, and that the Welsh Labour Government continue to stall, dither and delay, while opportunities to bring an economic renaissance to Wales and, I hope, to my constituency of Anglesey are squandered?

In reply Jacob Rees Mogg said: “I agree with my honourable friend that freeports are very important; the programme will be of great value to the whole UK.

“I am sorry that the Welsh Government, of course a socialist Government, are dragging their feet on the issue.

"One would have thought that they would want to encourage innovation, free trade, competition and the prosperity of the whole nation.

“As highlighted in our “Plan for Wales”, published in May, the Government remain committed to establishing at least one freeport in Wales as soon as possible, to attract new businesses and investment, and create jobs and opportunity in areas that need them the most.”

He went to say he would take up the Ynys Môn MP’s concerns with the Secretary of State for Wales and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

She also wished the Welsh Football team good luck on Saturday when they play Denmark in the last 16 of the Euro 2020.

The Conservative MP sponsors Holyhead Hotspurs, Llangefni and Amlwch Town football teams on Angelsey.

“I have a Welsh grandfather and a Welsh father, and my family will be cheering loudly,” she told MPs.
