A FARMERS' Union of Wales branch will stage its virtual annual general meeting to discuss issues facing the industry.
The FUW Anglesey event will see members take part in lively discussions around water resources regulations, proposed trade deals and wider FUW matters.
Guest speakers on the night are FUW managing director Guto Bebb and Keith Owen, environment consultant and director at Kebek-Rural Environmental Services, who will discuss the implications of the new water pollution regulations and how they differ from the previous SSAFO regulations.
Mr Owen will also discuss the dates that need to be adhered to and what facilities will fall into the new regulations. The presentation will also look at economic ways of meeting the regulations and what the implications are of an NRW/Cross Compliance inspection.
FUW Anglesey county executive officer Alaw Jones said: “We look forward to welcoming our members to the virtual county annual general meeting. Our AGM is going to offer members the opportunity to meet our new managing director, and discuss the most important issues facing the industry, including the water resources regulations. It promises to be a thought provoking evening and I hope many of you can join us.”
Keith Owen said: “It's important for FUW members to be aware of what is required and at what date, as the new pollution regulations are being implemented over a 3 years staggered introduction. Each element will become part of cross compliance as it is introduced. Understanding what is required for slurry storage and when it is to be introduced will give the farms time to prepare and fund any potential infrastructure upgrades required.”
Joining details can be obtained from the Llangefni office on 01248750250.
