HAVEN holiday parks will reopen to Welsh visitors at the start of April as coronavirus restrictions are eased in the country.
The caravan holiday provider, which has seven sites in Wales, said it decided to reopen following First Minister Mark Drakeford's roadmap out of lockdown enabling self-contained accommodation and outdoor children’s activities from March 27.
Haven sites including Prestatyn and Porthmadog in North Wales, New Quay in mid Wales, and Tenby, Cardigan and Lydstep in South Wales, will reopen from Friday, April 2. The caravan site in Porthmadog will reopen on April 12 "due to the size of the park".
As travel restrictions are in place elsewhere in the UK, Haven sites will only be opened to tourists from Wales until later in the month.
A Haven spokesperson said: "Following the announcement by the First Minister in terms of Wales’ roadmap out of lockdown, we are pleased to announce our plans for reopening our parks across Wales.
"We are delighted that the majority of our Welsh parks will reopen to guests from Friday, April 2. Due to travel restrictions affecting the rest of the UK, we will only be able to welcome guests from Wales at this time.
As a result of the above restrictions we will regrettably have to cancel breaks from guests living in England, Scotland and Ireland for those due to arrive prior to 12 April. We are contacting these guests directly with regard to the options available to them. We look forward to welcoming them back to Haven later in the year.
"Our Hafan y Mor park at Pwllheli will reopen to holidaymakers from 12 April. Due to the size of the park and the timing of the announcement from the Welsh Government, we will need some additional time to ensure we can offer guests the holiday experience they know and enjoy at Haven. For guests who were due to arrive at Hafan y Mor between 2 and 12 April from other parts of Wales, we will be able to provide them with alternate accommodation at our nearby Greenacres Holiday Park and look forward to welcoming them there.
"We would like to thank our guests for their patience and continued understanding whilst we work through this as quickly as we can."
