THREE climbers were rescued after after straying into difficult terrain.

This was on Y Lliwedd, a mountain beside Snowdon.

Rescuers from Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team spent more than 11 hours rescuing the group.

The team were assisted by the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation and Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team.

Upon discovery, two of the climbers were found to be mildly hypothermic

Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team posted on Facebook on Tuesday, July 14: "A small party was initially sent to the base of the crag to try and locate the party who, with some fortunate breaks in the cloud, were spotted high in the area of Slanting Buttress.

"Because of the terrain and complexity of incidents on Lliwedd, we asked for assistance from our neighbouring teams of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation and Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team to whom we're very grateful.

"Using spotters at the bottom of the crag, a belay was built above the casualties and team members were lowered down.

"Two of the party were found to be mildly hypothermic and all were rewarmed by putting them in blizzard protection systems jackets.

"A further lower of around 300m got the casualty party off the crag and walking down to our waiting Land Rover Defenders."

After 11 hours and 30 minutes, all team members were off the hill and the incident was closed with North Wales Police.
