POLICE intercepted a couple who had travelled around 250 miles from London to pay a visit to Llanberis this week.
The pair were stopped by officers with the help of the community on Wednesday and reminded that the region is closed to visitors.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "Residents of #Llanberis are abiding by COVID-19 guidance. Sadly two people from London felt differently yesterday (Wednesday), and decided to drive all the way here so they could walk up Snowdon.
"Thankfully, with the help of the local community, we were able to stop the vehicle. Driver and passenger were duly advised and sent on their way… but not before being reported for offences under COVID-19 legislation."
Snowdonia National Park Authority has closed its busiest mountains in Snowdonia including Snowdon itself, Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy.
It has also closed those in the Ogwen Valley, including Tryfan, Cwm Idal and Glyderau until further notice and all car parks and information centres have also been shut down.
