A HOLYHEAD resident says she was "honoured" to receive a special award from the Town Council over the weekend.
Mary Parry MBE has been directing and taking part in shows in the Town for over half a century.
Following her latest performance in 'A tribute to Mama' on Saturday night, Mary received a surprise.
"I was given an 'outstanding achievement' award for my contributions to fundraising through music and dance," she said.
"It really was unexpected but I'm honoured to have received it. It brings a smile to my face knowing I can bring pleasure to the people of Holyhead through my shows."
Town Mayor Keith Thomas was on hand to present the award to Mary whose latest show served as a tribute to Mrs Charles-Hughes, a former show director Mary had started her performing career with in 1946.
"The tribute show was a huge success with Mama's relatives coming from as far away as Derbyshire to watch it," she said.
Proceeds will go towards the Penrhos Stanley Hospice.
