THE FIRST results of the Anglesey County Council election are in.
Councillors Robert Llywelyn Jones, Raymond Jones and Arwel Roberts have retained their seats in the new Caergybi electoral division.
In the Canolbarth Mon ward, Plaid Cymru completed a clean sweep, with candidates Bob Parry, Dylan Rees and Nicola Roberts taking the three available seats.
The three candidates elected to represent the Aethwy division are Alun Wyn Mummrey (Plaid Cymru), Meirion Jones (Plaid Cymru) and Jim Evans (Independent).
Plaid also dominated in the Seiriol ward, with candidates Lewis Davies and Carwyn Jones winning seats, with Labour's Alwyn Rowlands claiming the third.
Ieuan Williams (Independent), Vaughan Hughes (Plaid Cymru) and Derlwyn Rees (Independent) were duly elected to Lligwy ward.
Twrcelyn voters have elected Richard Owain Jones (Independent), Aled Morris Jones (Liberal Democrats) and Will Betws Hughes (Independent) as their representatives.
Plaid Cymru councillors Medi Huws and John Griffith have been elected in Talybolion, as has independent candidate Kenneth Pritchard Hughes
Electoral divison Talybolion, will be represented by Plaid Cymru's Llinos Medi Hughes and John Griffith, and Independent candidate Kenneth Pritchard Hughes.
In Llifon ward, Richard Dew (Ind), Gwilym O Jones, and Ken Taylor (Plaid) have been elected.
Ynys Gybi will be represented by Trefor Lloyd Hughes (Plaid) Dafydd Rhys Thomas (Ind) Jeffrey M. Evans (Ind).
Independents Hywel Eifion Jones and Victor Hughes elected to represent Bro Rhosyr.
Peter Rogers (Ind) and Ann Griffith (Plaid) elected to Bro Aberffraw ward in the final result of an exciting day in Llangefni
More than half of Anglesey's eligible residents casted their vote in yesterday's council elections.
50.5 per cent of the island's voting population turned out to have their say over the council's future.
Turnout for the individual electoral divisions were: Aethwy 49.1%; Bro Aberffraw 53.6%; Bro Rhosyr 52.8%; Caergybi 47.6%; Canolbarth Mon 51.1%; Llifon 46.2%; Lligwy 52.1%; Seiriol 56.1%; Talybolion 48.7%; Twrcelyn 53%; Ynys Gybi 45.7%.
The counting at Plas Arthur, Llangefni is now underway, with electoral divisions Aethwy, Caergybi and Canolbarth Mon the first to be counted.
