FLINTSHIRE based transport firm Delsol says it is trying to assist workers from stricken rival City Link.

Coventry firm City Link announced on Christmas Day it is going into administration with 2,727 jobs under threat.

Union officials are holding crunch talks with administrators Ernst and Young to try and prevent the job losses.

Delsol director Tony Parry, based in Sandycroft, said it has received calls and emails from City Link workers looking for work as well as worried customers.

“This is a terrible situation for City Link drivers and staff and we are doing all we can to offer their workers jobs,” he said.

“In addition we know City Link's customers were left in the lurch at one of the busiest times of year.

“If there are any businesses relying on City Link in Cheshire and North Wales who need support we are ready to help and pick up their business accounts.

“We can deliver parcels and packages anywhere in the UK same day or next day delivery and we can deliver anywhere in the world.”

Tony said Delsol prides itself on high levels of customer service where customers can always speak to a person rather than a machine to trace a parcel.

“There is always space in the market for a company dedicated and committed to the highest standards of customer service which are frequently lacking in the transport business,” he said.

“We welcome enquires from City Link staff and customers.

“Delsol has built its reputation and success on providing a fast, efficient and reliable service.”

Delsol is a pallet and parcel specialist operating same day, overnight and international delivery and collection services.

The company operates the CH and LL postcode regions on behalf of APC Overnight & The Pallet Network.

Delsol was founded by co-directors Simon Walker and Tony Parry in 1999 in Bethesda.

It has a turnover of more than £6m and more than 100 staff.

Its vehicle fleet, with the well-known blue and white livery, now numbers more than 70.
